Leave.

Look at me and stutter
over the absence in your mouth.
Your mind slows to a mutter
when your eye catches mine.
I see your uncertainty
hold you, wondering if a line
has been drawn and judgment
been made with no sense
of denouement.
So easily does doubt
slip in, acknowledgment
of worth without meaning
and purpose without discernment.
Leaving so quickly careless
existence cannot answer
old questions springing
to your lips. A cancer
of fear met bitter with hope
waits to meet you,
and you must go, so
look at me and stutter
over the absence in your mouth.
